Chess

Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on an 8×8 grid, known as a chessboard. Each player controls an army consisting of 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s king, meaning the king is under threat of capture and cannot escape from it.

Players take turns moving their pieces according to specific rules for each piece, with the game emphasizing tactical and strategic thinking. Chess has a rich history and is played worldwide at various levels, from casual games to highly organized tournaments. It is recognized for its complexity, with an enormous number of possible positions and outcomes, making it a subject of study in mathematics and artificial intelligence. Chess is also seen as a mental sport, promoting skills such as problem-solving, planning, and foresight.
