La Liga

La Liga is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. Officially known as the Primera División, it is organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. La Liga features 20 teams that compete annually, with each team playing a total of 38 matches (home and away) throughout the season. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division. La Liga is widely regarded for its high level of competition and has produced many of the world’s best football clubs and players, including FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
